This just in!

The time on my clock says 11:21 PM.  Out the window of our dorm room I see some daylight.  My body says its 2:21 AM.  So I'll keep this short!

After a great day of travel, Shoe and I arrived safely in Barrow, Alaska today.  We are north of the Arctic circle in the northern most community on the North American Continent.  What a trip!

Flying 250 miles north from Anchorage put us in Fairbanks.  Then about 250 more miles brought us over the Brooks Range.  It looked like this from 6 miles up:

Beyond the Brooks Range in Alaska is known as the "North Slope".  It appeared to be about 250 miles of frozen, snowy tundra.  The patterns in the snow were very beautiful.  But a stop on the ground might make one look for an exit!  Something like this:

Its hard to tell the snow from the clouds.  They blend...

Now were here in Barrow, and it is time for some sleep!  The first impressions...  Cold.  Isolated.  Windy.  Yet pleasant and welcoming.  Much more to come!  Goodnight!
